Help 6 year old Yvgeniy fight leukemia

This is Yvgeniy (Zhenya) Snisar.

Zhenya is a typical six-year-old boy. His dreams at first glance seem quite simple: Go to school, sit at the same desk with classmates and learn. Eat a favorite biscuit cake. Celebrate his birthday in at home with his family.

He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2014 and he is currently undergoing his third chemotherapy procedure. Thus funds are needed in order to fund the bone marrow transplant surgery in Germany. Belarus has a socialized healthcare system with an unfortunate amount of bureaucratic obstacles and a poor supply of medication, in addition to a low donor selection. The German doctors at the University Hospital of Münster have agreed to do the surgery.

The total cost of the surgery is 280,000.00 Euros, which is $311,148.60 US dollars. The first payment of 140,000 Euros ($155,533.00) is needed in order for the hospital to accept Zhenya. Thus far, only about $9,000 has been raised in Belarus.

His parents got him a hamster when Zhenya was still in remission. Zhenya loved the hamster very much and looked after him, played with him, but since his leukemia has relapsed, he is not allowed to touch animals, so now his grandmother is taking care of the hamster. Zhenya dreams that when he gets well, his parents will get him a dog and she will be his best friend, because he has been in the hospital for almost 5 years now and has little contact with other children, preventing him from making friends of his own. Like most kids, he longs for friends to play games like his favorite, Monopoly

But what separates these simple but important things and Zhenya: there’s an almost insurmountable wall: treatment, treatment, treatment – then continued relapse of leukemia.

The funds will be deposited in the organizer Max Kanarsky's US based bank account and then will be transferred directly to the clinic in Germany.

More from Zhenya’s mother:

Hello, my name is Irina Snisar. I’m Zhenya’s mother and a medical doctor by education. We live in Belarus, in the small town of Bobruisk. Like most of my peers, I dreamed of starting a family, working in my specialty, and helping people.

I got married, and after a while we had Zhenya. We were all waiting excitedly for the baby — my mother, husband, and of course, me. Zhenya was born in April of 2013 and he was perfect. He brought a light to all the relatives in our family as we witnessed all his firsts: first teeth, first words, first steps and first falls.

What could possibly sadden such a story?

In October 2014, Zhenya, it seemed to me, became slightly ill, then after a trip to the doctor, the pediatrician said that it was a cold, and the doctor said to treat him at home for 6 days. Without any positive changes after a diagnosis of acute bronchitis, he went to the children's hospital in the city of Bobruisk. After 6 days, we were discharged home, but soon Zhenya's temperature rose again. Blood tests showed low levels of hemoglobin and white blood cells. Zhenya then received a blood transfusion. This did not improve his condition, so the next step was a consultation at the Center for Pediatric Onco-hematology.

At the end of October 2014, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and we started a long 13 months at the children's hematology department of the Center. It is difficult to convey the entire range of my emotions at that time, but nevertheless it was impossible to give up and lose heart. We fought hard, and of course, Zhenya himself fought hardest of all. And then remission happened: the opportunity to return home and forget this horror. We bought a dog, a fish, a hamster, and normal life continued ... but not for long.

At the end of December 2017, after the next scheduled analysis, I had to return to droppers, IV, chemotherapy – then a relapse occurred. Another 8 months were already planned in the dreaded walls of the hospital, plus the same amount of supportive chemotherapy and weekly follow-up trips for tests.

So much time has passed, and events postponed, but April 2019 did not leave us any hope that in September he would get to go to school for which he had been eagerly preparing and waiting for. And now again, the next chemotherapy course is behind, without a clear reason why, due to problems with the thyroid gland, osteoporosis (Zhenya suffered a broken arm and leg), heart and lung problems.

Treatment is becoming more aggressive.

The only way out now is to respond to a new treatment regimen, after which a bone marrow transplant will be needed. There is no donor yet, due to the unfortunately small donor base in our country.

Of the drug reserves in Belarus, there is already practically nothing available for a stable remission.

There is one option, one hope that German doctors offer. The University Hospital of Münster is ready to take Zhenya for treatment and achieve the results we’ve wanted for so long! The cost of treatment for me is an astronomical amount, which I am not able to earn even during my whole life.

Zhenya and our family are extremely grateful for any donations to help him get this treatment and save his young life. We thank you immensely for your help and we will keep fighting this.

Thank You for your help!
