Help Yvette Franklin Save Her Family Home

My name is Eunique Jackson and I really appreciate anyone willing to take the time out to read my story.

My family and I have been blindsided by the tragic loss of my Grandmother, Earnestine Jones-Goleman, on October 27, 2024, at the age of 86. She was the glue that kept my family together. She was an active mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked in the school system as a cafeteria worker for a total of 36 years. My mom, Yvette Franklin, age 59, and my grandmother had two homes on one property. Both properties happen to be in my grandmother's name and now that she has passed, they will be transferred to my mother. Unfortunately, funds aren't the best. Allow me to give a bit of a backstory.

My grandmother, (known as Granny), was diagnosed with Alzheimer's around 2018. During this time, my mom was working for the Mobile County Courthouse as a custodian worker. My grandmother's diagnosis began to get really bad around 2020, and she had to have 24-hour supervision. So between my mom, her siblings, a few nurses, and my grandpa, they were dividing up time to sit with her in an attempt to save money because my grandpa also had cancer, so a lot of the funds had to be put towards his health and treatments as well. Over time, this all became a bit of a strain due to everyone working, so most of the caretaking fell upon my mother due to her already living next door and my grandpa who couldn't do much with his age as well as having his cancer relapse. After a year or so, my mom, having to work long hours and still come home to work lifting, bathing, and caring for her mother, it all began to take a toll on her body. In 2023, my mom was injured at work and had to take medical leave. Unfortunately, it was unpaid, but she still had to take care of my granny, so eventually, she had to leave the courthouse. Soon after, my grandpa had to go into the hospital for his cancer, and this time he never made it back home. After my grandfather passed in August of 2023, everything was really on my mom. Funds had basically stopped after the loss of my grandpa, so they had to let go of the few nurses, and the only care was then divided amongst the family, with my mother being the primary caregiver. There happened to still be some money left over to take care of my granny, but things were very tight. Once Granny had passed, the rest of the funds would basically be taken up with funeral costs and arrangements. Of course, this left my mom with a hole in her heart as well as the stress of attempting to regain financial control of the place we call home.

With this all being said, we are trying to raise $40,000 to purchase the property and to help with repairs and everything that has gone untreated within the past 4 years.

We appreciate anything that could help, from small contributions to larger ones. Even if you have knowledge of any organizations or churches that may be able to assist, we are open to all help. Please share this page even if you can't contribute; that is more than enough. Thank you again for your time.
