Help Yulia's Family with Medical Expenses

On August 24, our friend Yulia - daughter to Lolita and Artur Arakelyan - experienced a ventilator malfunction while going out for a walk in a wheelchair, all by herself as she often did. She was able to text the caregiver alerting she needed help, however, by the time the caregiver located Yulia, she was already unconscious. The caregiver called for help and sustained Yulia until the Emergency Unit arrived and transported her to the Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, OR. where she has been ever since.

She spent 10 days in the ICU, fighting for her life - the fighter we all know she is. Tracheostomy surgical procedure had to be done to help Yulia with her breathing. She has now been moved to the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit where she remains under close watch, receiving necessary therapy, care and further evaluation to understand the extent of the damage to Yulia’s body.

Yulia always vehemently refused to be bound by the limitations of her body and embarked instead on the life that made her who she is. Whether it was Wobbly Dance Company (which Yulia and her husband Erik started), cooking creations, pet rescuing, film making or an act of advocacy - Yulia was always giving all her passion to the world and the world has changed in turn due to her existence.

Yulia’s road to recovery is going to be long, winding at times, full of difficult medical decisions the family will be facing, as well as financial impasses already beginning to take their toll, and this is still just the beginning.
