On December 5, 2020, just a few days after her birthday, Yulia was driving in the residential area of Annapolis, when her car was T-Boned by an SUV that was speeding over 70 mph (more than twice over the speed limit). As a result, Yulia broke her collarbone, experienced multiple skull fractures, rib fractures, detached rib, punctured lung, and unfortunately, lost her eye. She had an urgent surgery to reconstruct her eye socket, spent 10 days in UMD ICU and months in physical therapy.

Back in December, she was against a gofundme page for herself - if you know her at all, you know that she's an honest, hardworking and humble person... But 6 months later, just a week ago, she had to have another eye surgery and won’t be cleared to return to work any time soon. She's suffering from frequent headaches, PTSD and anxiety; she is unable to walk/stand for longer that 20 mins; she still cannot lift anything with her left arm and will need more physical therapy. MedicAid doesn't come close to covering all of the medical bills that keep piling up; she lost her unemployment benefits and ran out of savings.
