Help to bring Yukon back to the Rescue!

We’re conducting a quick fundraiser to transport Yukon from Wisconsin to Fairplay as well as arrange for a comprehensive evaluation once he is here. Hoping to raise $2,000 in less than two weeks to make this happen – we owe it to Yukon! PLEASE consider a donation to support him today!!

Yukon is a sweet, estimated 7yr old, Arabian mix that arrived to the Rescue in the Summer of 2021 with some deep fear. When he first arrived, he was extremely sensitive to human touch and movement creating a suspicion of abuse somewhere in his past. For more than a year, the Rescue put in countless hours to help him overcome these fears and begin to trust and connect with volunteers. Eventually incorporating groundwork skills, he was put up for adoption for someone with experience. We found him a loving home where he underwent the start of saddle training but was returned to FVHRR after a few short months for personal reasons. Once returned, we focused on more groundwork. In the Spring of 2023, his current adopter snatched this handsome boy up, thoroughly understanding the patience he was going to need moving forward. She has been diligently working with him at his pace and has made great efforts in building their relationship and connection. He is now fully under saddle, and she’s been exposing him to trail rides and more. Despite the great strides they’ve made, something is not quite right. Yukon is exhibiting some unpredictable behavior that has caused safety concerns, and his current owners have made a painstaking decision to release him back to the Rescue. Described by them a lovable teddy bear (which we know him to be), there’s been many tears, and they wish they had their own land to continue to support him if he can no longer be ridden. Unfortunately that is not the case and so we’re raising the funds needed to haul him back so we can help figure out this behavior and get to the root of it.
