Help Youssef and Rana Rebuild Their Lives
Donation protected
In December 2023, the Alshaikh family’s home in Gaza City was destroyed in a tank assault that reduced their neighborhood to rubble. Amid this devastation, 13-year-old Youssef was gravely injured by shrapnel. His leg was shattered, and with no access to adequate medical care, his survival was uncertain. Makeshift clinics lacked electricity, supplies, and staff to address the overwhelming injuries caused by the bombings.
In early 2024, Rana Alshaikh and her son Youssef fled Gaza for Oregon, seeking life-saving medical treatment. Youssef underwent several complicated surgeries and a leg amputation, but the emotional scars of displacement and violence remain. Unable to return to Gaza due to ongoing violence and systemic oppression, the family is pursuing asylum in the U.S.
Rana and Youssef will need financial resources as they try to rebuild their lives in Oregon. This fundraiser has been developed to help raise funds to ensure that Youssef and Rana can heal.
