Hello, I'm Troy. I'm the proud founder of the village at Move. Lift. Live.
7 years ago, my partners Cesar and Karla and I had this wild dream that we could create a safe space for the CrossFit community we had fallen so deeply in love with so that we could continue doing the great work we were doing minding our health and fitness.
Little did we know at the time just how extraordinary an experience we were embarking on. While we moved into a beautiful space at 19 SW 6th Street, right in the heart of Brickell, and got to work. What followed is truly what dreams were made of.
The spirit of The Village was born. Our community became the epicenter of openness, connection, safety, comfort, fitness, mindfulness and great care between each and every human being. Over our past 5 years since we opened, we've been blessed to connect and serve over 5000 truly special individuals.
Friendships and bonds were made that will last a lifetime. We became a safe haven for so many as they navigated tough moments in their lives. We were a hub for our community, and home to countless exciting events and moments of collaboration and unity. We experienced and witnessed incredible, life-changing transformations.
Sadly, the time has come to close our doors. The unfortunate reality is that the changing economies of our neighborhood have been difficult to keep up with. But, while we need to sunset the business and let go of the space we occupied, our spirit lives on.
The Village is so much more than the building we played in. The village exists and will continue to thrive in the connections we've all made. Every laugh shared with members turned friends, every phone call or text exchanged with "our people" that we met while putting in the good work, every birthday, anniversary, holiday and new year we toast with the loves of our lives that we met at our little space in Brickell, will carry that spirit forward.
In the end, that was what we set out to achieve. And the gravity of that impact will be felt for decades.
As we close our doors, our primary concern is taking care of the staff and team of coaches that were the lifeblood of our village as they transition into their new adventures. They were the ones who day-in-and-day-out generated the energy and life that we all enjoyed and call home. We'll also have some legal items to navigate and to prepare for.
If you can help, to any degree, it would be so greatly appreciated. We're closing due to the financial burdens being too heavy to carry further. So particularly at this moment, if you find it in your heart and ability to do so, we'd love your support as we move through this transition.
We look forward to seeing you, our beloved village. While what the future holds is still unclear, we know that the unity and spirit of the village will keep us connected. Coffee dates, swim dates, beach WODs, and other gatherings are sure to surface, and we can't wait to see that they do.
We might be closing the doors at 19 SW 6th Street, but The Village lives on.
Thank you, truly, for what was by far the greatest 5 years of my life to date.
Big hug,
Troy
