Help Your Friend Paul Waller Beat Cancer

Dearest Friends,

Some of you know me very well maybe as far back as grade school. Yet many many more of you don't know me nearly as long. Regardless you have become one of my friends and friendship is something I have come to treasure and put great value on! Be it here in our cyber Facebook world, out in the field hiking or chasing Rare Birds or any other social activity that brought us together long enough to cement a friendship. It has! And as friends I need to share something with you. Some of you already know what I'm going through. Perhaps some of you are still unaware.

How It Started:

I'm not even sure where to begin. It seems one day I was joyfully living my life and the next thing I knew I had a surgeon standing next to my hospital bed telling me the last thing any one of us wants to hear! He said "You Have Cancer" The words penetrated through me. Everything going on around me in my post surgical hospital bed came to a standstill, my world fell silent. it was all I could hear over and over! And when the silence finally ended he said I'm going to need to introduce you to my partner who will be performing your next surgery to try and remove the Cancer. Later on he returned with his partner, introduced him and we discussed my next operation briefly. I could only grasp so much as I was still reeling from the initial diagnosis.

The Surgery:

On August 20th 2021 I arrived for my surgery at 530AM. The hospital had not even opened yet so I waited until. The Surgery was robotic and I was told when I woke up that it went well but they had to remove my left kidney, my left Ureter, a Tumor from my Bladder, part of my Bladder and surrounding Muscle and Lymph Nodes. Unfortunately the Cancer was High Grade and very Aggressive and it managed to get outside my urinary tract and into my muscle. So the recommended protocol is Chemo Therapy, Possibly some radiation treatments too. I'm now half way through my Chemo Therapy treatments and all the veins in my arms are already blown out. So this Friday ill be having another minor surgery to have a Chemo Port installed in my chest to make my infusions easier to tolerate since I still have 2 more months of treatments and all the wonderful side effects associated with Chemo Therapy.

My Problem:

Meanwhile now the Hospital Bills have started to roll in almost daily! They are astronomical! While I do have medical insurance the portions I am responsible for are already way more than i can afford! I've already gone through a considerable savings account I had set up for emergencies. Copays, Deductibles and medication costs are adding up daily, faster than I can afford to pay them! Now the hospital is threatening me with collections and withholding treatments if i cant come up with the Copays. I cant allow that to happen but I live on a very tight fixed budget!

How You Can Help:

Friends have recommended to me that I set up a "Go Fund Me Account" to help me with these unusually high bills. While its something I'm finding very embarrassing to do, it has now become a necessity to reach out and ask for help. I've never been comfortable doing it but I don't see another solution to this problem. So I am very Humbly asking for help!

How These Funds Will Be Used:

I know many people besides myself are going through rough times right now due to the pandemic and that makes it even harder for me to ask for help. But if you can afford anything at all it will help me reach my goal of paying for my Oncologist Appointments, Psychiatric Appointments, Tests, Cat Scans, MRIs, Surgeries, PET Scans, Medications and subsequent Chemo Therapy Infusions. If you can afford more and are inclined to help I will be forever grateful for your help and generosity. When I share on my wall that I need help many people message me or ask how they can help me the most. Right now your generous contributions would be the biggest way any of you could help me!
