I am writing in hopes to share this story with you all and also seek your support for bright and promising young kids - Shagun and her brother Vikrant. They live in Himachal, India. and their mom was one of my close friends. They are in dire need of financial help during these tough times and 100% of the money raised will be transferred to them to pay off outstanding bank loan. I am personally committing $1,000 for this cause.
For a little backstory, this friend of mine passed away a while back and she has two surviving kids. Her son, Vikrant, who is in his late-20’s has been single-handedly supporting upbringing of his younger sister for last 10+ years including food, shelter and her education.
My friend had a rough life. Her husband passed away when kids were young and she was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately lost the battle against it. After her passing, her son has taken on the guardian role and worked hard to provide for a roof over his and his sister’s head as well as save up to send his sister off to college.
He currently owns a small restaurant business but given the circumstances of covid, lockdowns, bank loan, college bills, there isn't enough business and he is closing down his business. He is struggling to support himself and his sister. I have personally known them since they were kids and I am amazed by the positive attitude, relentless grit and self-respect that these kids have!
I wanted to raise money for these bright young kids to help them secure a better future. If he is able to pay off his outstanding loans, life will be a bit easier for both of them.
Any help would be much appreciated!
