Help young Murray Family rebuild

Donation protected
My name is Andrew and I am the Father of Jemima Murray (24) She is Married to Tally Murray (29) and they have four young children Oliver (5) Preston (3) Elsie (2) and Josie (4 months).

The Murray’s wanted to make Christmas special for their children this year as this was the first year that the kids began to understood the magic of Christmas. Tally or Talmage was Lucky with his new job to get a paid week off between Christmas and New Year’s.

During this time they took a day trip to Kamloops to visit Tally’s parents and family, unfortunately on the drive home to Kelowna, weather conditions became extreme with decreased visibility and blowing snow. At the Penask brake check they hit a patch of black ice then a snowbank which spun them around and eventually sent their van into the back of a parked semi truck.

Upon impact with the semi truck Tally became unconscious with major lacerations to the head and broken ribs, he blacked out and went into seizures. Jemima immediately tried to apply pressure to stop the bleeding while also making sure all four children were okay. It was then that she realized both cell phones had gone flying in the crash and she had no way of contacting 911. The temperature was around -25 with blowing wind and snow.

With four crying children and an unconscious husband panic set in and Jemima began to scream as loud as possible for help. She was able to find a few blankets and get the children covered and then began to desperately honk the horn and scream her family had been in a crash. After a what seemed like a lifetime but was only a few moments there were three truck drivers at her window offering help.

After begging the 911 operator to move the children to a warm vehicle, the truck drivers helped Jemima and her kids into one of the cabs of the parked semi trucks. Jemima had to leave Tally behind covering him with blankets and trusting that the truck drivers would be able to help him until paramedics showed up .

Tally finally gained consciousness to realize no one else was in the vehicle with him and that there were paramedics around him reassuring him that his family was OK safe and warm.

They loaded the family in three separate ambulances. Tally in one. Jemima Elsie and Josie in another. Oliver and Preston in the third.

Tally suffered from a concussion, cracked ribs, large lacerations to his head and fore head And required many stitches and staples to put things back together under the hands of a plastic surgeon.

Jemima’s scans and x-ray showed that she had broken a bone in her pelvis, stitches to her hands and Extreme bruising to her arms hips and legs. The doctors and surgeons are monitoring her recovery as at this point surgery may still be needed. She will need to be off her feet for several months. As a mother of four young children this seems like an impossible task and help will be needed for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately due to pain medication she has been prescribed, Jemima is no longer able to breast-feed her infant daughter Josie. This has added not only to the financial burden of needing to purchase formula, but to the stress and hormones of a struggling young mother.

Tally is unable to work or drive due to the injuries he obtained during the crash. And will not be able to until a full neurological evaluation has been done, he will be off for the next three months from work.

The children for the most part are physically all right but they are traumatized by the experience as they continue asking questions and behaving in ways they never have before.

Due to a new work situation they currently have no benefits to help cover any medical expenses. So all of the medication they are on is being paid fully by them as well as medical equipment required.

The bills are adding up quickly and they have no reliable income to count on for the for seeable future.

All donations will be used to pay their monthly bills like rent, groceries, medical bills, trauma counseling, other expenses that will arise as they recover as well as to eventually help in replacing their vehicle.

There are a lot of unknowns in their life right now and we have started this go fund me page in hopes of providing some comfort and assurance and to relieve stress while they process and heal from this horrible accident.

For all those who wish to receive a personal thank you or a note from the family feel free to include your address along with your name and donation.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any assistance you are able to provide.

Sincerely Andrew and Katrina Glen
