Message from the Chairman of Mahabuba Memorial General Hospital, Nilshagar, Hajigoinj, Nilphamari:
Growing up, my mother used to say that if you give a person a plate of food, in return they will shower you with a thousand folds of dua (prayers). In 1980, at the age of 35, my mother Mahabuba Begum was diagnosed with having diabetes at PG Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. However, when she returned to her village in Nilphamari, the closest hospital to her was 6 hours away by rickshaw and a day by foot. Without having accessibility to a proper health facility, my grandmother passed at the age of 40 after years of suffering from lack of treatment and medication. In 1986, at the age of 22, I lost my mother from years of childbirth trauma, chronic diabetes, and heart attacks and I thought all the dua’s in the world could not save her life.
Since her passing, my wife and I relentlessly worked and devoted our life’s income to aim to help the poverty-prone people of Nilphamari by first establishing Mahabuba Memorial General Hospital and providing them with low cost-effective health care. While in the years to come, there have been many health care facilities that have emerged in areas near Nilphamari, Bangladesh, however, the quality of that health to the low-income families is non-existent. At Mahabuba Memorial General Hospital, we aim to provide safe, cost-effective, and high-quality health care for people like my mother.
Thus far, MMGH is currently composed of 20-Bed General hospitals that will cater to patients with diverse natures of ailment caregiving free for a minimum to no charge. Some of our treatments will include General Checkups, Pregnancy and Childbirth, General Surgery, and much more. While we have been fortunate enough to acquire some Diagnostic Equipment like ECGs, Ultrasound, and Physical Therapy Services, we still need more help to support the community. The funds being raised will be used to reach our goal of having 100 beds for patients and a Digital X-ray Flat Panel Detector to provide more adequate service for the young mothers and children of Nilphamari, Bangladesh.
Your donation is very much appreciated and will go a long way to saving more lives!
