Tällä ensimmäisellä kierroksella keräämämme lahjoitusvarat on nyt käytetty syöpähoitoihin ja niiden käyttö on raportoitu Poliisille. Olemme avanneet keräyksen uudelleen, jotta läheisemme pystyy jatkamaan hoitoa.

Ystävämme ja sisaremme, kaksivuotiaan tyttären 38-vuotias äiti, sairastaa hyvin harvinaista ja aggressiivista syöpää eli neuroendokriinistä karsinoomaa. Hänen hoitonsa päätettiin lopettaa julkisella sektorilla kesällä 2021, mutta lahjoitusvarojen ansiosta hän on pystynyt jatkamaan syöpähoitoja yksityisessä syöpäsairaalassa Docratesissa. 


Syöpälääke, muut lääkkeet (muun muassa kipuun ja pahoinvointiin) ja hoidon muut kustannukset (TT-kuvaukset, verikokeet, onkologin ja hoitajan vastaanotot sekä hoidon suunnittelu- ja seurantakulut) ja keräysverot kustantavat noin 10800 euroa kuukaudessa.  Kaikenkokoiset lahjoitukset olisivat läheisellemme todella tärkeitä, sillä ne antaisivat toivoa ja auttaisivat kustantamaan syöpähoitoa lokakuusta eteenpäin.

Hei! Ja suuren suuret kiitokset kaikille teille avulialle ja hyväsydämisille ihmisille halustanne auttaa karmeassa tilanteessamme! Olen suunnattoman kiitollinen kaikista lahjoituksista, joiden määrä ja suuruus on lyönyt ällikällä!

Olen lähipiirini kanssa selvitellyt hyvin kattavasti yksityisen puolen hoitovaihtoehtoja Suomessa ja ulkomailla. Kävin läpi ja kontaktoin kaikki Euroopassa ja USA:ssa käynnissä olevat lääketutkimukset, jotka kuulostivat edes potentiaalisesti sellaisilta, että voisin päästä niihin mukaan. USA:ssa olisi ollut pari-kolme sopivaa tutkimusta, mutta niihin osallistuminen ilman USA:n kansalaisuutta ja sikäläistä vakuutusta olisi maksanut 50 000 - 100 000 euroa. Lisäksi olisi pitänyt kattaa matka- ja majoituskulut sekä matkustaa USA:han säännöllisesti, mikä ei ole oikein realistista huomioiden nykykuntoni sekä sen, että minulla on pieni tytär Suomessa.

Kontaktoimme myös kaikki löytämämme sairauteeni erikoistuneet lääkärit ja tutkijat maailmalla, mutta vain yhdellä heistä oli ehdottaa vielä yhtä hoitovaihtoehtoa. Tämä ehdotus oli sama, minkä sain yksityisestä syöpäsairaala Docrateksesta Suomessa, joten päädyimme aloittamaan ko. hoidon.

Kyseinen hoito ei ole KELA:n hyväksymä sairastamani syövän hoitoon, joten en saa lääkkeen tai muiden hoitokulujen kattamiseen mitään rahallista tukea yhteiskunnalta.

In order for the patient to be able to continue the treatment at Docrates, we need to re-open this fundraiser.

Less than a year ago, this young mom of a small baby girl sought medical help to fight fatigue, pain and nausea. The news she received was crushing, and turned the whole family´s world upside-down at once. She, who had always had a healthy lifestyle, was diagnosed with a non-genetic and rare cancer - high-grade aggressive neuroendocrine carcinoma. As if this would not be cruel and unfair enough, during a long diagnosis phase, the news got even worse. There was no hope of a cure, and the doctors gave her 2 to 6 months to live.

At present, she is still fighting the cancer, but the public sector has stopped treating her, as there are also only few scientifically tested medications for this rare cancer. Giving up is of course no option for her, so her fight continues against the clock.  

In Finland, it is very uncommon to have a private health insurance, and there is only one private cancer hospital, which is very expensive to use without an insurance or other extensive financing possibilities. To continue to have time with her loved family, she needs urgent help to finance treatment through a private cancer clinic. Please see below an update that she has written of the current treatment plan.

I am overwhelmed by the kindness that you have shown by the number and amount of donations that have come in! Already seeing how many people want to help in this awful situation gives me hope that the good in this world might finally conquer the bad!

Me and my family / friends have searched extensively for private sector treatment options in Europe and the U.S. I have searched and scanned through every single ongoing clinical trial in Europe and the U.S. to spot the ones that I could with any level of likelihood be accepted to be part of. Unfortunately, it turned out that participating in a clinical trial in the U.S. would cost ca. EUR 50,000 to EUR 100,000 in addition to travel and accommodation costs. Also flying and staying regularly in the U.S. by myself is not that realistic considering my current health as well as the fact that I have a small child. In Europe, I was unable to find any trials that would have been applicable or able to accept me in as a trial patient. 

We also contacted all oncologists and researchers with knowledge in my cancer on a global level that we could identify. Unfortunately, only one of these was able to suggest a treatment, but interestingly, the suggested treatment was the same as suggested by the private cancer hospital in Finland called Docrates.

On this background, we decided to pursue this treatment through Docrates. However, as the treatment in question is not an officially approved treatment for my cancer type in Finland, the state covers none of the related expenses. The expenses (including the medicine itself, pain and nausea medication, CT scans, bloodwork, oncologist and nurse appointments and treatment planning and surveillance costs at Docrates plus taxes) total at ca. EUR 10,800 a month.

I have now been on this new treatment for about a month, and in one more month, I should officially find out if it is working or not. I will update this page accordingly as soon as I get that information!
