Hi, I'm Ricky, Manon's owner.
Manon, is a 6-7 months old male rat. Over the past 4 months, he has developed repeated abscesses in the same general area on his neck (One massive abscess developed on the other side of him, at the same time I'm typing). They become noticeably swollen and grow quite large.
He had undergone 4 surgeries (2 required full-body anesthesia). The situation is really overwhelming for me, averaging around 1 abscess every 3 to 4 weeks. His weight goes up and down along the sickness, and he is 350g now (Below average).
The abscess is back again and again, but Manon managed to be happy during every play time, and I'm not sure how long this will keep going. As an university student, I just managed to cover his medical bill up until now.
However, it is really dreading, so I'd be asking help if you're able to. The fund will go to his current vet visit plus treatment which would cost about 1000CAD alone, buying him a temporary house, and most important of all finding the cause presumably as if we were to cure it, it would increase his life expectancy and quality a lot.
