Last Wednesday morning, a young local couple, both valued employees at JBS Caroona Feedlot, had their world turned upside down when they received a devastating call at work, there had been an electrical fire at the rental property where they were living.

The blaze began in the shed and quickly spread, destroying nearly everything they owned outside. Among the losses were a Land Cruiser ute, valuable tools, multiple saddles, horse tack, and $2000 worth of bullfighting protection gear that Matt relies on, and much more. They also lost a borrowed 3-horse angle float from one of their good friends. While thankfully the float was insured, it was still heartbreaking.

A lifetime of hard work and treasured belongings was gone in an instant and out of their control. Like so many of us, their personal contents weren’t covered, leaving them with nothing.

Matt and Taylor are humble and hardworking, they would never ask for help themselves. But as family and friends, we want to rally around them in this time of need. Starting over is an enormous challenge, and every little bit will make a difference as they begin rebuilding their lives.
