Hi, my name is Sarah, and I'm trying to help my sons' taekwondo school, Yongsa Martial Arts, put on its first American Taekwondo Association-sanctioned tournament in Smyrna, Georgia. This is important to my family and me because Yongsa is a wonderful, family-centric school. It's run by a family of military veterans, and they are so kind and supportive of all their students. I have seen firsthand how nurturing and helpful they've been with my kids, and I want to do my part to help them with this monumental task!
Amateur sporting events require considerable upfront funding and are often only possible with the generosity and support of the community. Like other festivals and neighborhood activities, local sports events like Yongsa's tournament help to attract revenue and enrich the culture of Smyrna.
The American Taekwondo Association has selected Yongsa to host one of the few tournaments in the state of Georgia this year. Yongsa named the tournament the "Jonquil City Championship," and it will provide a venue for 400-500 athletes to compete against each other in amateur contests. The upfront cost of the tournament can be financially strenuous for a family-owned business like Yongsa, thus the reason I'm hoping the community will help support this valuable opportunity for our community. The upfront costs include purchasing medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, the cost of the venue, cost for judges, expense for the tournament brochure, food, beverages, running the tournament website/portal, and many more. Any donation you can make will be put toward these costs and will help us bring a new event to our beloved city!
With your support, the 2023 Jonquil City Championship can be another event that helps make Smyrna a great place to live and work. Thank you in advance for helping us bring a top-notch event to our hometown!
