Yona is my 9 year old Chihuahua that I rescued from a second-chance program when she was one. She's my ESA and has been fiercely loyal and loving from the day I took her home. She loves sunbathing, cuddling, and going on outdoor adventures.
In May of 2025, she developed a limp in her right leg. We took her to her vet, who decided she had bad joints and gave her anti-inflammatory meds, and sent her home. She eventually seemed to recover, until early September when she suddenly was unable to put weight on her left leg and had lost most of her ability to walk. Upon visiting another vet, they determined Yona had actually torn both of her CCLs and had luxating patella in her knees that had gone undiagnosed. We scheduled urgent surgery to try to get her out of pain as soon as possible and to stabilize her joints so she could regain mobility.
We had also been planning a very low-budget wedding before her injuries and had paid for our venue and most of our services upfront. We canceled what we could, but we were unable to get our deposits back on the majority of our contracts. This has put us in a financial corner, and we are just hoping to be able to give Yona with the best care possible at a time that our savings have already been depleted.
I love my doggie and I really don't want her to be in pain :(
Thank you for your time!
