Help Yolanda receive critical medical attention

It is with a heavy and broken heart that I make this plea. On Thursday the 23rd of December Marius, my nephew, was killed in a head on collision in South Africa when a truck driver swerved to miss a pot hole but colided with the car that carried my nephew as well as my niece and her two children.

Yolanda, my niece, has been seriously injured. Bianca and Hanru, her two children are in critical condition. Bianca suffered head trauma and a ruptured spleen and is in a medically induced come. The doctors are waiting for the swelling in her brain to subside before they can operate. Hanru suffered a deep laceration across his face and his liver had burst. He has already been operated on and is in a stable condition. Fortunately Bianca and Hanru are covered by my sister Dolores's medical insurance and have been taken to a private hospital where they are receiving the urgent medical treatment they need.

Unfortunately Yolanda does not have medical insurance and have been separated from her children into a public hospital. According to the medic who attended the accident, Yolanda's one leg seems to have been broken in three different places, her shoulder seems to have been broken and she has cuts and bruises all over her body. More worryingly, Yolanda might have incurred some head trauma as well but we don't know the full extent of her injuries because it is 3 days later and she has not yet been x-rayed or received any treatment. Furthermore, she is dilerious from the pain for which she is also not receiving adequate treatment or dosages. To add to Yolanda's pain, her children are in a different hospital and she hasn't seen them since the accident.

We need to get her into a hospital where she can receive the medical treatment she so badly needs before her injuries becomes septic, which could have fatal consequences.

It is estimated that we will need between R500 000 to R 1 000 000 to transfer and treat her at a hospital that can give her the immediate medical attention she needs. In UK terms, that is £25 000 to £50 000.

Please help us and donate as little or as much as you can spare. I promise every penny will go towards Yolanda's medical costs. I furthermore promise to regularly post updates about her recovery and treatment.
