Help an elderly, disabled mother keep her house and health

Hi everyone, it’s Marie, Yolanda Mosot’s daughter. We need your help to keep us afloat for the foreseeable future.

As many of you know, my mom was in a car accident while following my dad’s ambulance in 2019. He died two months later, and she became quadriplegic. She spent about 4 months at acute rehab before returning home. However, thanks to the pandemic and the slow progress of outpatient occupational and physical therapies, she has not been able to return to work. And I have not been able to find work for various reasons, least of all because taking care of Mom is practically a full-time job and I do not have help in the matter.

As of this writing (July 11, 2024), we have less than $500 between us. We’re waiting on our mortgage company to return a decision regarding our application for hardship assistance, but that would not solve the problem of having no money to pay bills and buy groceries and medical supplies.

We realize it’s been a long time since we last asked for help, but in many ways, we need it more now than before. We have exhausted our and my father’s savings and need enough money to keep us in our home and my mom healthy with all the supplies she needs as a disabled person.

We know everyone is facing hard times right now, but we also know from last time how every little bit helps. Please remember how vulnerable elderly and disabled people are, not just physically but financially. We’ve refrained from asking for help for as long as we can, but I’m afraid we’ll be facing homelessness and bankruptcy soon.

My mother and I weathered the last 5 years on our own when we should have reached out for more support. We’re calling on your kindness and generosity now.
