Help Yoan In His Fight With Tumour

Donation protected
Our nightmare begun on 22 January 2021. Yoan, who was 7 years old, started to have painful headaches. The pain wasn’t going away with painkillers and we decided to visit Ipswich Hospital. We were advised he was fine and to continue with Ibuprofen and other home treatments. He wasn’t getting better and following several Hospital visits an MRI was conducted on 1 March. This is when our world changed - the MRI discovered a large Tumour. Urgent measures were taken and we were sent to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where on 5 March, he had a surgery.

The surgery went well and the Surgeon advised that they’ve managed to remove 90% of the tumour. This was great news for us, but we still didn’t know exactly what type of tumour he had. We only found a month later that Yoan had a Diffuse Midline Glioma H3 K27M Mutant 4 Grade – a very rear and aggressive tumour. The estimation of remaining lifetime was 3 months. There’s nothing more horrifying that the thought you can lose your child and that you can’t help him. A genetic research was then completed and the doctors found that there isn’t a chemotherapy which is suitable for threating this type of tumour. The doctors also completed 13 palliative radiotherapy sessions, which went without many side effects. He was able to go back to school immediately after the last session. I will never forget the day after the surgery when he said he was ready to go home as he really wanted to see his brother and father. Yoan is a fighter!

Yoan had a nice summer and had a beautiful party for his 8th Birthday. Unfortunately, the nightmare returned – on 30 September the headaches returned. On 1 October, an MRI was completed and the results were terrifying. The tumour is growing and has a big Oedema.

We continued searching for alternative treatments and one day we found a medicine called ONC201. There are many positive feedbacks from people with the same diagnosis. We reached out to a doctor in Germany who gave us the hope we needed. Unfortunately, the medicine is very expensive, we urgently need to start the treatment and this is why we need your help.

We should be very grateful for any donation you can make.
