Help Yitong Recover From a Hit & Run Accident!

Young Game Designer Struck in Hit & Run Accident

On the afternoon of December 12th, Yitong Hu was crossing along Monument Road in Philadelphia's Wynnefield Heights. As she was halfway through the crosswalk on a "Walk" signal, a silver sedan suddenly swerved into her path and crashed into her left side. As Yitong fell and laid on the ground in pain, the driver stopped for a moment before speeding off along the road. Luckily for her, a woman who works at the news station across the street saw the entire scene transpire and was able to call Yitong an ambulance.

When Yitong arrived at the hospital, she received the unfortunate news that several bones in her left leg were broken: a tibia-fibula fracture. The diagnosis could've been far worse, considering how hard she was hit. However, she required surgery to implant a titanium rod to support the tibia bone that had split completely in half. After spending the week in the hospital, she was allowed to go home and get some well-deserved rest.

Sadly, she was also given a large hospital bill that she is having trouble being able to afford. On top of this, she also has additional legal fees as she attempts to seek litigation against the criminal who ran her over. Because Yitong is an international student on an F-1 visa and her family is located in China, I'm holding this fundraiser on her behalf. 100% of the funds will be going to Yitong, which will mitigate the majority of the costs that aren't covered by her limited insurance.

Who Is Yitong?

Yitong Hu (25) is a kind-hearted, talented game/UI designer who moved to the US in 2018 to attend grad school at UC Santa Cruz. As the youngest of her class, she pitched and eventually headed her own development team as the creative director of Truants. As her producer, I helped her publish the mystery-thriller computer simulator that shed light on the atrocities of electronics addiction camps in her home country of China.

Yitong's been bouncing between jobs since graduating in March 2020, including a game designer position that had her move from California to Pennsylvania this spring. Regrettably, they were unable to retain her and she was pushed back into a competitive job market. Being an international student in America is hard enough without having to pile on the stress and trauma of a severe motor accident.

In all the years we've been friends, I've known Yitong to be a selfless and caring person who has put others before herself in more instances than not. Now it is our turn to help this amazing person in one of her most difficult times. Any donation, even if it's $1, supports Yitong as she faces a long road towards recovering from this collision. If you aren't able to donate, please consider sharing this story for others to see. Thank you again for your love and support, and have a happy holidays!
