Yesenia Alvarado was in a fire accident on April 9th. She was walking around a fire pit, and her shoe got caught, and she tripped and fell into the fire pit.
It’s an absolute miracle her face did not get burned; however, she has third-degree burns on 40% of her body.
She obviously cannot drive/work right now, and we appreciate any help during this hard time.
The company she works for made employees use their PTO time during the winter freeze even when employees couldn’t go to work because of road closures and power outages in their homes. She does not have any PTO left.
She is waiting for short-term disability to be approved. There is a two week wait timeframe from the employee’s last day of work before the short-term disability approval process begins. However, this timeframe does not apply whenever someone is in the hospital. She was in the hospital from April 9th to April 19th; therefore, her two week waiting timeframe started on the 19th.
She hopes to be approved soon, but even when she gets approved, it’s only 60% of pay. On top of normal expenses, she needs to pay for medical costs that insurance won’t cover (ambulance, hospital stay, doctor appts, medicine, OT, home-health nurse).
Any contributions towards helping her during this tough time is much appreciated.
Also - we value your prayers, as she is in immense pain.
Thank you,
Jennifer Lewis
