I am fundraising for Yazan and his family, they are currently in Western Gaza, trying to survive after being displaced many times.
I got to know then through social media. Their story is heartbreaking, like so many in the region. The situation there can feel overwhelming - how can an individual help? But by helping this one family (as well as giving to charities working in the region) it can make a positive difference.
This is his story -
The Story of Yazan and His Family in Gaza – From Dreams to the Struggle for Survival
My name is Yazan Foura. I am 19 years old. I dreamed of becoming a programmer and building a bright future, but the war took everything from me: my education, my home, my dreams… even the most basic necessities of life.
We are a family of eight:
My father, Sameh Hussein Foura, lost his job at the beginning of the war.
My mother, Mervat Sobhi Foura, had open-heart surgery before the war and now needs food, medicine, and special care.
I am Yazan (19 years old), the eldest brother.
My brothers: Mohammed (17 years old), Yamen (15 years old), Yasser (14 years old), Hussein (12 years old), and my only sister, Haya (9 years old).
On the first days of the war, we were preparing to go to school. We never imagined it would be a war of genocide. They forced us to flee our home in northeastern Gaza to the south, and we moved between displacement sites several times. After a year and a half, we returned to our home and found it partially destroyed, but we persevered despite everything.
A few days later, they forcibly displaced us again to western Gaza. Our entire area was destroyed, and we lost our home completely.
Now, we are living in a state of absolute famine, without sufficient food, clean water, vegetables, or food for my mother, who has a heart condition. Every day, I face danger searching for a little food and water to keep my family alive. Aid is not reaching us, and the world is watching.
My only dreams are now limited to saving my family from starvation, to providing them with the bare minimum of survival.
We are in urgent need of help—any amount, no matter how small, could save the lives of my children, my siblings, and my mother.
Your donation could save an entire family from starvation.
From our hearts, we thank you for any support or sharing of this story.
