Help Yaz Say Goodbye to the Gals

Hey gang,

So, I hinted recently that I had some life altering news that I wanted to share, so here goes.

After a lifetime of lugging around them big ol thangs (my boobs) - Yaz is finally getting top surgery!

A couple weeks ago I got on a consultation with a wonderful surgeon in Florida who is a leading specialist in gender non-conforming (GNC) and trans related surgeries, Dr Sidhbh Gallagher. She started the session by asking my pronouns and then proceeded to discuss the exact procedure I am after, and have not found anywhere else. This particular procedure is something she pioneered/designed with a previous patient, and it's called Non Flat Top Surgery. I am all booked for January 5th, the day before my birthday and the best present I could hope for. If all goes to plan, the start of 2022 will see Yaz saying tah tah to the tatas.

It’s not necessarily something I talk about very often, but they have been a literal weight on my chest since they invaded during puberty. From unwanted attention, ridicule and mockery, hyper-sexualization, general discomfort and pain etc. my boobs have always been the cause of some real deep and intense self esteem issues - and that’s before we even get to the gender stuff.

Non-flat Top Surgery will allow me to bind on some days, and creates a slightly more masculinized chest structure than a standard breast reduction. However, it also means that I won’t be completely flat chested, giving me some more flexibility and freedom in how I present and navigate how my gender is perceived. I hope it will give me more autonomy over my body, maybe even finally feeling like it is actually mine.

So - this is where you come in. Since this genius decided that mid pandemic would be a great time to launch her own business, and I’ve been working my booty off, but it might take a min until I’ve casually got £10,000 handy, even for life affirming surgery. And since OnlyFans be trippin, the next option is to humbly request your support to offset the costs, as the peeps who have always had my back with previous campaigns. This will help support the surgery costs, living and travel expenses and aftercare and any additional costs that might arise. The surgery itself is about £8600 with flights and stay in Florida for about 2 weeks. Consider this not only an investment in me, but an investment in an up and coming black owned business. If you have liked and supported my work so far, imagine what I could do when I’m not spending half the day finding innovative ways to avoid my own boobs. If you’ve ever enjoyed my ramblings, learned something from me, or simply like the look of my adorable face - please send your spare coins or share the fundraiser!!!

For many of you, the language around this will be interesting/new/confusing and I’m sure there’ll be lots of questions. Why call it top surgery and not a breast reduction? Do I identify as trans? Why not go totally flat? Are there no surgeons in the UK? All these questions and more are things I want to explore and share with you on my journey, in the run up to it and beyond. I’ve been searching for information about this for over half my life, and it’s been difficult to come by. I hope to make that process and access to information a little bit easier for anyone else who is interested or may want to do this for themselves. I’ll be keepin y’all posted with info, speaking about my personal experiences as well as interviewing other folk who have had similar surgeries, or want to, and other peeps with complicated relationships with their jugs. Ok, real talk - this may all sound quite light hearted, and I want to bring the excitement and joy I am feeling to this conversation, but this procedure will change my life and I am filled with an array of emotions I’m only beginning to process. This is something that I never believed could actually happen. Don’t let the jokes belie how serious and deeply personal this is to me, and how vulnerable I feel putting myself out there to all of you. I am terrified, but deeply hopeful, that with your support, this could be the start of an entirely new chapter in my life.

We on this journey together! #notiddygang
