My name is Yavier Nunez, and I am a biology major with a pre-med minor at Texas State University. My dream is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon, a path I chose after seeing how heart conditions have deeply affected my family. Many of my loved ones have struggled with heart-related problems, and some have passed away because of them. This personal experience inspired me to dedicate my life to helping others facing similar challenges, so no one else has to go through what my family has endured.

Right now, I am working hard to stay in school and continue my education. I have been applying for jobs to help pay for my tuition, but so far, I haven’t had any luck securing one. Even with the grants I’ve received, I am still short on what I need to cover my tuition bill, which is due soon. I am determined to keep moving forward and reach my goal of becoming a heart surgeon, but I need some help to get through this tough moment.
