Help Yassin Build Her Village Shop
Donation protected
My host sister from the Gambia, Yassin Jobe, is working to create a shop within the village of Panchang, which she will own. In the past year, she graduated from college with the hopes of becoming a teacher, but with the passing of her father, who was the family's main source of income, she returned home to help support her family.
The main goal of this shop is for Yassin to be able to use her entrepreneurial and creative skills to help support her family now and for years to come. She plans to sell a variety of goods from school supplies to everyday items like bread, rice, oil, etc. The location and structure have already been secured, she simply needs help buying the supplies to get the business started!
The above words were mostly Yassins. A personal note from me, Yassin is one of the hardest-working people I have ever met, and that has only strengthened as she has gotten older. She is motivated and will do anything to support her family as one of the older siblings. Additionally, women-owned/run businesses in The Gambia, especially outside the capital, are not that common, and I believe, given the opportunity, Yassin will not only do an incredible job, she will also be someone the other young girls in the village of Panchang can look up to.
