Help Yasmine, Kurtis, Ayden & Krystian Rebuild

It’s incredible the importance a matter of seconds can hold when your life depends on it. This is my cousin Yasmine, and her family, Kurtis, Ayden and Krystian.
Yesterday, February 16, 2021, at around 3 in the morning, Yasmine was woken up from her sleep to loud banging on the downstairs patio sliding door. Thinking it might be a break in, her partner Kurtis went downstairs to investigate. She heard Kurtis scream to call 911, which she did while rushing to barricade herself and the kids inside the kids’ room. They heard someone come up the stairs but couldn’t recognize their voice and so they pushed against the door preventing it from opening. By the time they realized it was Kurtis, they opened the door to a house engulfed in thick black flames. They realized they couldn't make out his voice because the house was on fire. They rushed out, empty handed, and mere seconds later, the ground beneath the room they stood in collapsed into the flames.
This. This is one of the worst nightmares a family can live through. By the grace of some unimaginable power beyond our understanding, they all got out unscathed, except for Kurtis who suffered further burns to his skins when he rushed back in to save the family dog, our little Pepper. And while we let that sink in, and breathe a sigh of relief for their lives, the unescapable weight of having lost everything also comes rushing in. Hands are empty, standing half-dressed staring at your entire lives going up in literal flames in front of your eyes.
The fire, which seems to have been caused by an electrical problem in their patio, was quickly spotted, again by some grace, by a neighbor across the pond, who immediately called the fire department, luckily, since Yasmine herself had called 911 for a break-in and not a fire. Thinking the fire had been put out, the fire department left only to have it reignite around 9am, and taking with it 4 more surrounding homes, lasting hours and needing several fire trucks to be called in to help put out the flames. Thankfully, all neighbors are safe and had been evacuated with the first fire.
So today, we sit here, giving countless thanks for having everyone be safe and sound, albeit shaken. But with that said, I cannot imagine starting from total scratch. I would not even know by where to begin. So we do the little things, because at this point, anything counts. We set up this GoFundMe account with an arbitrary amount, because honestly, how much I really enough to start over for a family of 4 and pup? This isn’t some goal we are setting to reach and be done, but just an amount because we have to put one in to start the account. But this is an account set up to help Yasmine, Kurtis, Ayden and Krystian start their lives over after losing it all in the blink of an eye. Whatever amount helps. It truly doesn’t matter. As long as we can add it all up in the end, and provide them with some little relief amidst the nightmare.
We are infinitely grateful for you having read this, and for any contribution you may be able to make, even if that contribution is just passing this link around for others to contribute as well.
