Help Yared & Susan Rebuild After Tragic Fire
Donation protected
On February 10, 2021, a massive fire destroyed a 50 x100 foot barn near Uxbridge, Ontario. The barn was a workshop and storage facility for small business owners, Yared Lakew and his wife, Susan Reesor, who are well-known in our community for their generosity in helping others. Over the years I have witnessed them: donate and deliver furniture and essential needs to Canadian Newcomers, donate furniture to charity fundraisers, share meals and lodging with others or give a listening ear. They have made their mark in our community by always focusing on how they can serve others.
Yared has been friends of our family since I can remember. Growing up and witnessing his caring and gracious demeanor, like he would give you the clothes off his back if you needed it, has always been an inspiration to me. So in this season of love, I am reaching out to our loving communities for help.

Yared is the proprietor of Classic Furniture Restoration & Services and is renowned for his passion in woodworking. He applies traditional craftsmanship when restoring and refinishing furniture and it has earned him a loyal following. For over 30 years, his stellar woodworking skills has reached to the heart of every customer he serves, as he has made his livelihood bringing life back into antiques or aged family heirlooms. Yared is a true artist with an extremely rare talent. He has been the "go-to" guy within our community as his customers value his advice and expertise, particularly for his restoration work.
With the loss of Yared’s workshop, all of his tools and equipment, inventory of furniture, storage area and his ability to earn an income, the financial needs are substantial. Yared's life is the love that he puts into every piece of furniture that he touches. He is one of the last craftsmen of old furniture - a true artisan, guardian and steward of antiques. Because of his meticulous, passionate work, heritage furniture has been passed on to future generations, along with the legacy of their memories. Our wish is to help Yared reclaim his abilities to help others and also regain his livelihood.
As a starting point, we are setting a goal of $50,000 for a new workshop space so that Yared can continue the legacy of his work.
