Hi - my name is Sarah and I’ve set up this fundraiser on behalf of my neighbor Yanet and her family. Yanet’s 74 year old father was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma. He had surgery in December and is preparing to start 5 months of chemotherapy. Yanet is the only earner, supporting herself, her father, her 8-year-old daughter in DC, and her mother and a daughter with disabilities in their home country. Caregiving for her father is taking up lots of time and energy, so she’s not able to work as much as she normally would. They are immigrants and don’t qualify for many of the benefits and services available to other families. The money raised will go towards providing the family with monthly support to help them buy the special diet that her father needs and pay bills while he is in treatment.

Hola - mi nombre es Sarah y he hecho este recaudación de fondos para mi vecina Yanet y su familia. Recientemente el papá de Yanet quien tiene 74 años recibió un diagnosis de cáncer de lymphoma, etapa 4. Tuvo cirugía en Diciembre y esta acabo de empezar con 5 meses de quimioterapia. Yanet es la única persona en la casa que puede trabajar, y está apoyando a su misma, su papá, su hija quien tiene 8 años, y su madre y hija con discapacidades en su país de origen. Cuidar a su papá es muy pesado, y ella no puede trabajar como normal. Son inmigrantes y por eso no califican por muchos de los beneficios y servicios que están disponibles a otras familias. El dinero que recaudamos va a apoyar a la familia mensualmente a comprar la comida especial que necesita el papa y también pagar los gastos durante el tratamiento.
