My name is Charlene, and I’ve had the privilege of knowing Yana and her family since they arrived in Canada from Ukraine 4 years ago. When they first moved here, I helped them get settled into a condo, furnished their apartment, and provided the basic necessities to help them begin a new life in safety.

Yana, a loving wife, mother, and daughter came from Ukraine in search of safety and a better life for her family in Calgary, Alberta.

At just 39 years old, Yana has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. Doctors have given her a heartbreaking prognosis—only up to 6 months to live.

Yana is no longer able to work, and the mounting costs of rent, bills, medical needs, and daily necessities have become overwhelming for her husband and young daughter. Her mother, who came to help care for her, is doing everything she can—but they need support.

This fundraiser will help Yana and her family with:

   •   Immediate living expenses (rent, bills, essentials for her daughter)

   •   End-of-life care and comfort

   •   Funeral costs and post-funeral support for her family

Yana came to Canada with hope for the future. Now, we are hoping to surround her and her family with love, dignity, and peace in this most difficult time.
