Help Xia‘s Family To Live In the U.S better
Hi,
My name is Jiede Xia, the only child in the family of 3. On 08/07/19, I was diagnosed with Poor Risk Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumor. At first, I was treated at Weill Cornell under Dr.Aledo, 4 cycles of VIP chemotherapy and one major surgery to remove the tumor in my mediastinum. However, there are also multiple small ones in my lungs that they cannot treat. Starting December of last year, I was transferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering for further treatments, under Dr.Darren Feldman.
At MSK, I had received neurosurgery, radiation therapy, high dose chemotherapy( autologous stem cell transplant), Immunotherapy, Gem/Ox and oral etopisdes. Unfortunately, all lines of treatment failed, and my oncology doctor officially declared me in state of hospice. My doctor gave me a survival time range from 1 to 4 months, I thought I can last longer, yet recently I noticed my body is weakening at an exponential rate.
I’m afraid that I will die anytime, leaving my parents alone. Both of my parents do not speak English, they even have trouble using smartphones. When I was healthy, I can translate for them, but with this uncertain life expectancy, I cannot imagine their life without me. I suggested them to have another child, but they are both in the 40s, I’m worried about their age.
My wish is that they can do IVF, but this is rather expensive. Even if they reject my proposal, I believe the funding is beneficial for them to live in the U.S, especially during the time of covid.
Sincerely,
Jiede Xia
