Close the College Completion Gap
The rate at which low-income students in the DC area complete college is staggeringly low. Having taken a step to create a brighter future for themselves, these students face uncertainty about how they’ll be able to afford the costs of college. To make ends meet, they work anywhere from 20 to 40 hours a week at a part time job, making it hard to focus on completing papers, studying for exams, and participating in group projects. Many are the first in their families to attend college.
XI is working to close this gap, one individual student at a time. The model is simple – first, we provide dollars to cover “life” expenses and reduce the number of hours a student would otherwise need to work at a part-time job. We couple this with structured 1-to-1 mentoring/coaching. Lastly, we hold students accountable for academic success.
Today, XI is only able to partner with a fraction of the students that apply. Help us expand our program and impact the lives of additional students in 2019.
Best of all, 100% of the money that you donate will go directly to students in need!
