On Tuesday afternoon I experienced the worst thing that can happen to a dog owner. I found my beautiful and loving 11-month-old Xena injured, covered in blood, and both in great pain and deeply confused.

Xena had been shot in the face by an unknown person somewhere in the vicinity of my house.

I rushed Xena to the vet and was greatly relieved to learn that my closest companion in life will survive her wounds.

I do face costs that are quickly mounting for her treatment, including having several teeth pulled that were shattered by the bullet.
