Hi, I’m Xena I’m 19 and have multiple chronic illnesses including HEDS (hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome) POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) aswell as a spinal curvature, and my right leg is fully paralysed meaning I am completely unable to walk. I rely on a wheelchair, at the moment i have a livewell insta fold electric chair, and a Glite pro manual chair. Both are not custom to me and are just not suitable for how active I would like my life to be. Due to my spinal/ back issues my chairs cause me so much pain and I am in desperate need of a custom manual chair. A custom chair would allow me to do so much that I cant do, my electric chair is not suitable for the inaccessible city I live in and I often have to wheel along busy roads as there are no drop curbs, a custom chair would allow me to get up curbs as they are much more manuverable and would be more suitable for my lifestyle.

I can only go short distances in my current manual chair as it allows me to do things my electric chair can’t like being able to get up curbs, over bumps and just generally get around and about more easily. However I cant use my manual chair for a long period of time as it causes my back extreme pain that I am just not be able to cope with.

I have a tiktok account that I will be documenting my disability journey from using my non custom wheelchairs to hopefully showing how much my new custom wheelchair is helping me access the world!
