Hey y'all, my name is Xavier. I'm a hairstylist in Richmond, Virginia. A series of surgical procedures have completely changed my life for the worse. I have a very complex transsphincteric anal fistula and since March of this year, I've faced serious hardship because of this thing. Although I've dealt with this for the last 8 years silently, through it all, I did my best to hide it and go to work like everything was OK, but truthfully, it's not. In July, I finally had my seton removed and got a flap procedure to fix the problem; however, it failed just a few days post-op. So much blood, pain, and the doctors say I'm completely incapacitated until Jan 4th of next year.

To be honest y'all, I don't know if even then I'll be back to normal. I have a gaping hole in my body with a silicon band tightly running through me. I've never felt so much pain. I hate to ask other people for anything, but this is all I can do at this point. My gauze is constantly being changed out because the seton keeps my body open and leaking. I can't afford to even be sick. Gauze, adult diapers, Ensure, juice, water, wet wipes, antibacterial soap, bed pads, ginger ale (for nausea), Calmoseptine, anything is appreciated. I don't have any other way of making money other than hair. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do because now I can't even do that. Neosporin is another thing. I had the first seton placement in March and I couldn't even wiggle my toes after. My prayer is this time, after months of having in a new seton, my body will actually shrink around this thing and the flap can then be done successfully. Until then, it's me, myself, and God. I lay here and lay here and it's so draining; my legs feel like spaghetti noodles. I just wanna heal so life can somewhat go back to normal for me.
