Hello, my name is Roy Xavier James Vanterpool, though most people know me as Xavier. I’m a rising junior at Howard University, majoring in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. I’m starting this fundraiser because, despite months of hard work and careful planning, I’ve encountered a major financial roadblock that’s threatening my ability to return to campus this fall.
Due to a significant and unexpected increase in tuition and room & board, combined with federal budget cuts that have reduced scholarship funding, I now face a balance that I cannot cover on my own. Even after working 35–40 hours a week this summer in rural Suffolk, Virginia, I still find myself short of what I need to continue my education.
I’m seeking to raise $5,000, which will be used exclusively for tuition. Every dollar will help me stay enrolled at Howard and on track to earn my degree.
Beyond academics, I’m committed to service and advocacy. I proudly serve in Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity (Zeta Phi Chapter) and am active in the Howard Chapter of the NAACP, where I sit on the Committee for Juvenile Justice. Whether it’s organizing community service projects or working toward policy reform, I’ve made it my mission to uplift and give back — and I want to continue doing that with the tools my education provides.
If you can support this campaign — by donating, sharing, or offering encouragement — you are helping more than just me. You’re investing in a future where I can pay it forward in ways that matter deeply to the communities I serve.
With heartfelt thanks,
Xavier
