Help Xavier & Ava Heal: A Father and a Daughter Fighting Two Battles
Our family is facing two unimaginable challenges first with Ava’s ongoing medical condition, and now with Xavier’s traumatic car accident. We’re reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits, asking for support as we try to keep pushing through this incredibly difficult time.
Ava’s Journey
A few months ago, 9-year-old Ava began experiencing unexplained symptoms after a viral infection. She was eventually diagnosed with vestibular neuritis, which has progressed into vestibular migraines. Ongoing testing has revealed that there is likely another underlying issue contributing to her symptoms — one that specialists have yet to identify.
Today, Ava:
• Cannot walk without assistance
• Is unable to attend school
• Battles constant nausea, dizziness, and disorientation — among many other symptoms that make daily life incredibly difficult
• Requires a wheelchair when leaving the house — which is still unpaid
• May need to travel to Boston to see specialists for this rare and complex condition
Her mom had to quit her job to provide round-the-clock care. The emotional and financial strain has been overwhelming.
Xavier’s Accident
Just as we were adjusting to Ava’s new normal, her father Xavier the family’s only source of income was in a devastating car accident.
Xavier suffered:
• A broken pelvis
• Spinal injuries
• Burns on his arms
• Other extensive injuries requiring a long and painful recovery
He will be unable to work for the foreseeable future and is now undergoing intensive physical therapy 5 days a week
Why We Need Help
We are trying to keep our family afloat while managing the medical needs of both Ava and Xavier. The costs are mounting:
• Ava’s continued care and mobility needs
• Specialized medical visits in Boston
• Xavier’s therapy, medication, and recovery expenses
• Unpaid medical bills from both emergencies
• Daily living costs without any household income
