Support our fertility journey, post Endo surgery!

Donation protected

My name is Xanthe, I am 30 years old and live with my fiancé. I have just undergone life changing surgery to remove severe endometriosis from my pelvic organs including my bowel, preserve my fertility chances and give me my quality of life back! The surgery followed a 2 year agonising wait, 5 cancelled op dates and 16 months of being put into a chemical menopause!

The surgery has dramatically improved my physical mobility, mental health and the ability to do everyday things already! The surgery was also absolutely vital to improve our chances of having a family of our own before it's too late - something we have dreamt about together since we were children ourselves.

We may however still need to go through fertility treatment if I can't conceive naturally or if I can conceive, but can't carry to full term. We know miscarriage is a high probability but will continue to fight the odds for what we want!

I am hoping to return to work in a few weeks once I'm fully recovered and will be saving every penny we can for the future! Any donations will of course be put aside with the funds already raised and we hope it will become "the miracle baby fund!"

I'm an ambitious, hardworking girl, who loves her family, friends and position in Mental Health for Southern Health NHS. My life had been on hold since before Covid with this illness and I have just wanted to get well again and back to earning a living and making a life! My partner has been amazing at caring for me but I'd like to be his wife and the mother to his child(ren) now, so if you can help, it would mean the world to us! ❤️

Some background:

I was misdiagnosed when I was around 18 and had what they called at the time, "a strawberry birthmark" removed from my bladder by ablation in day surgery after they investigated thinking I had kidney stones due to passing blood... Now we know this was actually Endometriosis

Endometriosis is when cells like those which line the womb and form the menstrual cycle are found outside of the womb meaning they will bleed but cannot leave the body so becoming trapped in between the organs and connecting tissues. This creates painful nodules and lesions which aggravate and become inflamed and can affect organ function. Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease and due to hormones, has also been found in some men! It has also been found in every organ in the body, all the way up to the brain in some circumstances. It is as common as 1 in 10 - the same as Diabetes! Despite being excised in surgery, it can return. Each case is different and affects people differently, which is why Endometriosis Specialists are required to often work with other department specialists to treat the disease correctly and also to help prolong or even eliminate regrowth altogether.
