Help Wynne Anne Kenny-Tobin Fight Cancer!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cynthia Tobin-Piercey and I’ve set up this Go Fund Me account for Wynne Anne Kenny-Tobin.

Wynne Anne was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and is set to have surgery on Monday, December 9th. The cancer diagnosis and the subsequent surgery has only occurred this past fall. The surgery will be a full hysterectomy. It is unknown, at the time of this posting, if the surgery will be the laparoscopic or a full incision of the stomach like a c-section. The stage of this cancer will also not be known until post-surgery, once the mass is removed and tested.

Following her minimum 8-week healing time, she will then be faced with chemo and radiation therapy. She will be off work until all of these treatments are completed and she is well enough to return.

This type of surgery is hard to fathom but even more so for Wynne Anne. Anyone who knows her well, know the struggles that she had to become a mom. After several rounds of IFV treatments, the decision was made to stop this process. Now, to be faced with endometrial cancer, feels like the final slap for someone who struggled with infertility.

However, Wynne Anne’s infertility problems didn’t stop her and then husband from finding another way to have a family. A decision was made to become foster parents. The foster parent course wasn’t even completed and they were asked to become foster parents to 3 siblings; ages 10 months, 22 months and 33 months. These beautiful children were removed from an abusive environment and one with special needs. The children thrived under their care and the family that rallied around them. Imagine going from no children to 3 under 3 overnight. It takes a special type of person to open her heart and home to not 1 but 3 children. The decision to adopt the children was made once it was deteremined that they would not be returning to their birth family. It was a decision made with with pure love.

The children are now grown however, 2 remain home. As noted, one has special needs and will be home for the years to come. The other, is struggling with some medical issues and is not working but the hope is they will start post-secondary school soon.

Wynne Anne has been holding down 2 jobs since her marriage came to end. Many may know her as being a welcoming face at the St. John’s Curling Club, as she has been working there for 18 years. She also took a temporary part-time position with Eastern Health in the kitchen at Pleasantview Towers.

Between both locations she’s working nearly 60 hours weekly to support her family.

There is no LTD as both jobs are only part time. There is no early retirement as there is no pension – she stayed home to raise her family. She will be filing for sick-leave unemployment. The wait on EI claims is usually 6 weeks and is a reduced income.

Cancer is a stressful word. Hearing you have cancer is one of the hardest things in life to hear.

This Go Fund Me is to help relieve the financial stress of being off work. So, she can focus on her cancer journey.

Wynne Anne is always the first in line to help out. She’ll give you the shirt of her back if you needed it. It’s now time to rally around her. She needs to feel the love and support of family, friends and the even random strangers.

If you can donate please do, no amount is too little. If you can’t then say a prayer, to help give her strength during the unimaginable road ahead.

As updates are available, I will make them here.
