Wyatt Simpson and Maximus Brown, two students at Cornerstone Learning Community in Tallahassee, Florida, have achieved something remarkable. After months of hard work, research, and dedication, they earned first place at the National History Day State contest in the Junior Group Exhibition category. Their award-winning exhibit, “Jacob Riis: The Camera Doesn’t Lie,” impressed judges and qualified them to attend the National History Day Nationals at the University of Maryland from June 14–18.
National History Day is a yearlong program that builds research, writing, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Wyatt and Maximus have spent countless hours investigating historical evidence, refining their argument, and practicing how to communicate their learning with confidence. Their school, Cornerstone Learning Community, is generously covering the students’ Nationals registration fees, but travel and lodging costs for each student and two chaperones remain a challenge.
This fundraiser will help cover travel, lodging, meals, and local transportation for Wyatt, Maximus, and two chaperones. Additional family travel (siblings or extra relatives) is not included. With Nationals just weeks away and travel costs rising quickly, your support will ensure these students can represent Tallahassee and the state of Florida at the national level without financial barriers. If you’re able to give, thank you. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser is a powerful way to help. Your support means so much to Wyatt, Maximus, their families, and Cornerstone Learning Community.
