Help Wyatt hear!
Donation protected
Wyatt Andrews is a four year old boy living with Treacher Collins Syndrom (TCS). If you've seen the movie "Wonder" than you have a little bit of an idea of the syndrome. He was born without ears and is only able to (somewhat) hear with the use of a bone conductive hearing aid. The aid does help, and he is also in speech therapy twice a week but the hearing device cannot be worn at all times and many days hurts his head so bad that he would rather just leave it off. With the speech therapy, he is making improvements but he is several years behind his age.
Wyatt has been through many surgeries in his short life and thankfully they have been able to reconstruct many of his facial features. The Andrews family is now trying to raise money for a surgery that will give Wyatt ears and the ability to hear without the aid of a device.
The surgery would be a year-long process that will require traveling to the other side of the country for months at a time. For the surgery they would either... (A) drill through the bone to open his ear canal and form a fake ear to attach to his head (if the bone is mature enough and not hit the brain) or (B) they will not be able to drill through the bone and put in a cochlear implant on the side of his head that will permanently be attached and build fake ears.
The surgery would allow Wyatt's hearing to be near perfect. His communication skills would be corrected along with his learning abilities.
This Go Fund Me page has been set up with the consent of the Andrews family. They are loving, wonderful people that long to give their son the best life he can live. Up to this point, the Andrews family has had to pay for much of Wyatt's treatments and surgeries out of pocket. Thankfully many generous people have given in the past and helped them with this financial burden but the struggle is not over. Without our help, there is no way they can afford this next surgery. This surgery gets more dangerous and life-threatening as Wyatt gets older and our goal is to help him get this surgery as soon as possible.
Please help us give Wyatt the gift of hearing. Every dollar makes a huge impact and if you can't give, please share the campaign.
