Hi, I’m Rose and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my sweet cousin Wulfy. He is four years old and is living with Fragile X Syndrome and level 3 autism. He is non-verbal and needs a lot of care. Despite all his challenges, Wulfy has always been full of joy and just radiates light. He absolutely loves Buzz Lightyear and Winnie the Pooh, will rewatch his favorite movie scenes over and over (giggling the whole time), and never passes up the chance to play fetch with his family dog bones. His laughter is contagious, and his energy endless. Wulfy had his first complex focal seizure in the middle of the night. It was very sudden, heartbreaking, and terrifying. He was taken to the nearest emergency room and transferred to Primary Children's Hospital by ambulance to be admitted to their Neuro Trauma Unit. He has been diagnosed with Focal Epilepsy.. Wulfy is non verbal and cannot communicate if he is feeling a focal seizure coming on (tingly skin, numbness, nausea, dizziness, etc.). Because of this, he must be kept under close watch 24/7 for any subtle signs. His family has made the decision to get a specific service dog for Wulfy that will be raised and trained with him as they grow up together, for the most success. Wulfy is very unique as his autism is severe and we want a dog that will be accustomed to him. This dog will help him with therapy goals, DPT, harmful stimming, and, most importantly, seizure alert. We are getting a puppy from Amazing Goldens and utilizing Dog Training Elite for the puppy’s service dog training. The trainer knows a few service dog breeders and if for some reason we have to get another puppy due to availability/temperament, any excess funds will be donated to the Fragile X Foundation. This Go Fund Me will cover the costs of the puppy and a 2 year program for the dog to be trained. His family can pay the ongoing cost of a service dog and are just raising money for the upfront costs as they spent their savings on medical devices for their son (owlet, sami camera, professional grade thermometer, etc) to help detect his seizures as much as we can without his communication. Thank you for your help!
