This is our cat Wuigi, who we (Lex and Rapha) adopted a little over a year ago off the streets of Philadelphia with the help of a local rescuer. Wuigi was originally meant to be a foster, but we immediately fell in love with him as he's genuinely the sweetest and most affectionate cat we've ever met.

Sadly, earlier this week Wuigi developed a life-threatening urinary blockage. I could tell something was wrong when we got home from work on Monday evening, when he was howling in pain and hiding rather than sitting on our chests affectionately purring like he always does... We had to rush him to the ER, where we were informed that an emergency procedure to flush out the blockage needed to be performed immediately. This procedure ended up costing nearly $7,000 that we did not have, and we had to open a new line of credit just to save our cat's life.

Luckily, the surgery was successful, and Wuigi is recovering well, but as his owners we are currently facing a huge financial loss and distress trying to figure out how to pay not only for this procedure/Wuigi's hospitalization, but also the expensive prescription food he will now need to eat exclusively for the rest of his life in order to prevent another emergency.
