Help Woofy Get the Surgery He Desperately Needs

To everyone who sees this, hello, my name is Danson Francis and I’m here on behalf of my dog and best friend, Woofy. Woofy is a six year old pit bull with a heart of gold and a personality that will make anyone smile even during the hardest of times. My favorite thing about him is how he changes the way people see pit bulls as vicious killers to realizing all he wants to do is cuddle you and be by your side. Woofy has been visiting the vet a few times the past few weeks concerning some visible discomfort in his back right leg. After a couple days had gone forward, it seemed like it was getting worse and worse for him to be able to walk by the hour. The following day I scheduled an appointment at VCA animal Hospital in Allendale, Michigan and had to wait an additional week to get him in due to a wait list. Another week has gone forward along with multiple appointments, x-rays, etc and today I finally received word on what happening with Woof.

Not only was the right hip indeed injured but it is in face both of his hips. Woofy has struggled with Hip dysplasia since he was a puppy. Over the course of his lifetime so far, his hips have slowly deteriorated over time to the point where neither of his hips work properly and his the sockets are now deformed, putting him in a lot of pain that not even his prescribed painkillers can completely alleviate.

Woofy is going to need hip reconstructive surgery on both sides. After speaking with my veterinarian, the cost of this surgery altogether is at an average of $3,500.

I have set the goal for $4,000 in hopes to account for the variation in surgery costs, travel expenses, and additional equipment I have been advised to get such as a dog sling.

To speak briefly on myself, I am 21 years old and am a Junior at Grand Valley State University studying public relations and a minor in business. I’m a three year member of the GVSU rugby team, former member of the GVSU concert band, and am a three-year employee and supervisor in training at the GVSU Recreation center.

I am a very busy person with school, work, my training, etc and I also pay for college myself along with my own apartment along with the list of other obvious expenses. My family and I like many have been effected horribly by COVID-19 and are not in a great financial standing at this time so the timing of this occurrence has been incredibly unfortunate

Woofy over the past year has touched the lives of hundreds of people in the GVSU community and right now he really needs your help.

I have never created a go fund me before nor am I the person who asks for help often, so in all honesty I don’t really know what to expect from this. I will be forever grateful to anyone who can donate anything or tell someone else about this post. This dog has gotten me through some of the hardest times of my life, I’m doing everything I can to do the same for him. Whether if we get close to this number or not, any help whatsoever will mean the world to me and him.
