Meet Woofie - a 4-year-old Bichon-Shih Tzu mix who has always been a joyful, people-loving little dog. Lately, though, cataracts in both eyes have taken almost all of her vision, and it’s been tough watching her world become harder to navigate.
Her owner wants nothing more than to help her, but the cost of cataract surgery is far beyond what she can manage alone. That’s why we’re reaching out for support.
About Woofie
Even with her limited vision, Woofie hasn’t lost her sweetness or her spark.
• She still greets everyone at the office like they’re her favorite person.
• She curls up wherever she can find a warm lap (or balances behind you on a chair like she’s supervising).
• She plays with her doggie siblings, Charlie and Izzy, and loves being outside where she can feel the wind and sunshine.
She’s doing her best to stay her happy, brave self - but you can tell she’s struggling.
Her Diagnosis
Woofie’s cataracts have progressed quickly. She bumps into things, pauses before taking steps, and looks for guidance just to get around. It’s difficult to see her lose confidence, especially knowing there is a fix. The hopeful part is that cataract surgery could restore her sight, and because she’s young, her odds of success are excellent.
The Cost
The full cost of exams, surgery for both eyes, medications, and follow-up appointments is several thousand dollars - more than her owner can manage. Restoring her vision would give Woofie the chance to live fully again: to run, play, explore, and recognize the faces she loves.
How You Can Help
Any amount truly helps — even $5 brings us closer to giving Woofie her sight back. If you can’t donate, sharing her story means just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Woofie and for any kindness you’re able to offer.
