I never thought I would be creating a fundraiser like this.
A few days ago, I was involved in a serious car accident while driving the Woof & Willow rescue vehicle. I was stopped at a red light when two vehicles behind me collided at full speed, causing my vehicle to be sandwiched between them. Thankfully, I survived. But I walked away with a concussion, bruises throughout my body, and emotional trauma that I am still trying to process.
The rescue vehicle was totaled.
For those who know me, you know that Woof & Willow is not just something I do—it's my life's work. Over the past few years, we have helped save hundreds of puppies and dogs who were abandoned, neglected, at risk of euthanasia, or simply had nowhere else to go. The vehicle that was destroyed wasn't my personal vehicle. It was the dedicated Woof & Willow rescue vehicle.
It transported puppies to veterinary appointments, picked up dogs from shelters, delivered supplies to fosters, attended adoption events, and helped countless animals make their way to safety. It was an essential part of our mission and one of the most important tools we had to save lives.
One of the hardest realities is that the vehicle was older and fully paid off. While insurance may provide compensation for its value, it will likely not be enough to replace it with another reliable rescue vehicle. As a small nonprofit, we don't have funds set aside for a loss of this magnitude. Every dollar we raise is typically spent directly on veterinary care, transportation, vaccinations, emergency medical cases, food, supplies, and spay/neuter surgeries.
I have always struggled to ask for help.
The truth is that I am not doing well right now. Physically, I am recovering from a concussion and painful injuries. Mentally and emotionally, I have been overwhelmed. I find myself crying often, struggling to leave the house, and trying to process how quickly everything changed.
But despite all of that, the dogs still need us.
Pregnant dogs still need safe places to land. The puppies still need vaccines and veterinary care. Emergency rescue requests continue to come in every day. The mission doesn't stop simply because life threw us an unexpected obstacle.
If Woof & Willow has ever touched your heart, if you've adopted from us, fostered with us, donated, shared our posts, followed our journey, or simply believe that every dog deserves a chance, I am asking for your help.
Your donation will help replace the Woof & Willow rescue vehicle and ensure that we can continue transporting dogs to safety, attending veterinary appointments, supporting our fosters, and carrying out the lifesaving work that so many animals depend on.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting me, supporting Woof & Willow, and most importantly, supporting the dogs who need us now more than ever.
With gratitude,
Dana
