Hi all Dog Lovers,
First of all, thank you for reading this. We lost our dog 3 months ago, our chow girl, Lillie, our whole world. I thought the best we could do to honor her was to open our home to another rescue dog. That's when Woody & Jessie came along, two bonded siblings. Their owners left them behind and moved to Dubai for a job. The agreement was that they would cover any health issues they would come to us with. Two weeks before their arrival, they told us Jessie ruptured her cruciate ligament + collateral ligament. The previous owner asked me to start a gofundme (it's a separate one) and that they cover whatever I wouldn't be able to raise. I was very clear from the beginning that we could only adopt them if they covered their current medical expenses. They told me Woody was completely healthy, even though when I received a video, I questioned it since I thought I saw him limping. I'm a physical therapist for dogs, but I'm obviously also naive, trusting people when they say they will pay and care for their dogs, dogs they left behind. They arranged their transport from the UK to Germany, me and my husband picked them up in Hamburg and the first thing I notice is that Woody has trouble breathing. The same day I ask the previous owners who responds that this is normal, they have read that on Facebook...... I clearly see he's limping both front and back and they tell me there's no urgency. Poor babies... So now my husband and I are here, with two chows, the intentions were good and we still want to keep them, but we're looking at a hefty vet bill, estimated to $15000 and I don't think anyone who's not wealthy, would be willing or able to pay this much money upon adoption. The previous owner also canceled their insurance which makes it impossible for me to claim anything even if I would get them insurance. We took both Jessie and Woody to the vet last week to put their rabies vaccination into their EU passports and took the opportunity to ask about Woody. The vet thought the breathing was abnormal and that he besides that needs a proper assessment to find out why he's limping. These chows are super bonded, super sweet and deserve all the care in the world. If you would be able or willing to spare anything at all in order for Woody to get the help he needs, then he (and I) would greatly appreciate it. If you're not able to donate, maybe you know someone who has the financial ability to adopt them and care for their needs. We would love to keep them, but I can't watch them be in pain and they deserve the care that they need. They will no matter where they end up, stay together - no exceptions. I'm first of all trying to raise enough money for a proper assessment with x-ray images in order to then get a more accurate estimation of what it would cost to fix his issues. Thank you for reading all of this! With so much love,
Woody & Jessie,
Emelie & Royer
