Help Women Entrepreneurs and end domestic violence

Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Tiffany Klemm, and I created this fundraiser on behalf of C2 Your Health Women’s Initiative’s(C2YHWI) Mentoring Program for women entrepreneurs. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help cover the cost of the mentoring program by allowing low income women to join using mentoring scholarships.

Do we need to explain the program? Following research as noted by the 2012 U.S. Census, in Indiana only 37% of women own businesses. In Saint Joseph County, it's only 2% with a 90% women entrepreneur failure rate. Saint Joseph County, Indiana has little to offer women entrepreneur microbusiness’ in business support, resources and confidence building activities. C2YHWI Women Entrepreneur Excellence mentoring program is an 11 month every other week (22 classes) program with a rigorous leadership track. The cost to graduate from the mentoring course plus certify 1 woman entrepreneur is $480. ( http://www.womenmoveforward.info)

C2 Your Health Women’s Initiative Inc. 501(c)(3) (www.C2YHWI.org) was founded in June 2018 by Cindy Cohen. It is a mentoring program designed with nutrition in mind, fostering leadership potential, next step thinking, economic success through collaboration with local women-owned businesses supporting high school girls, college, and women who live-in at-risk neighborhoods through entrepreneurship.

This mentoring program reaches out to women everywhere who have a business and are struggling or are looking to start one. The mentoring program lasts one year. It starts on International Women Entrepreneur’s Day which is November 19th each year. C2YHWI launched their mentoring program at the Women’s Entrepreneur Summit (www.womensentrepreneursummit.org) in 2018, now in its 4th year, which is a daylong event that brings seasoned women entrepreneurs and aspiring women entrepreneurs in the Michiana area together to listen to amazing experienced successful women business leaders as guest speakers and to network. Women's Entrepreneur Summit partners include: 1st Source Bank, Teachers Credit Union, Boling Vision Center, Ivy Tech Community College, Mosquito Joe of South Bend, Women Entrepreneurs Matter, C2 Your Health LLC, the Expo for Women.

The scholarships for the mentoring program are awarded at this summit, and you graduate the following year at the summit. This year due to COVID-19 mentoring scholarships were not available, however we hope to change this moving forward. This fundraiser will help women participate in this mentoring program who do not have the funds to participate without the scholarship, and it can very much be life changing.

H.O.T. Hear Our Tears, (501(c)(3) recently partnered with C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. forming Women Move Forward Initiative (www.womenmoveforward.com) to help women who are either currently in a domestic violence environment or are survivors to secure economic stability through entrepreneurship. Research has shown that entrepreneurship is an effective way out of an unsafe environment for domestic violence victims; that a lot of people stay in their dangerous situation for fear of lack of income (among other things). In this project, C2YHWI and H.O.T. are coming together to empower women living on the margins to take control of their household situations by providing them with access to support resources, financial literacy education, business skills training, mentorship, and networking support during and post Covid-19 period.

H.O.T. Hear Our Tears, (501(c)(3) recently partnered with C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. and The Pokagon Fund forming Women Move Forward Initiative (www.womenmoveforward.com) to help women who are either currently in a domestic violence environment or are survivors to secure economic stability through entrepreneurship. The Women Move Forward Initiative is a Covid-19 information dissemination and referral supports efforts HOT and C2YHWI are currently undertaking, however, this has seen the urgent request to scale up by collecting data on challenges facing domestic violence victims, provide referral for safety and support so as to save the lives of many women and children that are experiencing increased domestic abuse during the Corona virus pandemic that has left many nations locked down at home for months.

My story? I started my business in 2017 as a professional organizer. Over a 3-year period, I only organized for friends and family. Regardless of how much I was on social media, networked, and passed out business cards, nothing was growing in my business. I attended the 2nd annual Women’s Entrepreneur Summit and received a scholarship to attend this mentoring program. With my mentor’s help, my business is now profitable and continues to grow! We discussed topics like managing social media, goal settings, vision boards, business strategy branding, different types of business entities, work-life balance, and even working on your business vs working in your business. This mentoring program has helped me to get over feeling hopeless about my business and to start making forward progress. I can honestly say I would not have a business today if it were not for this program.

For all the above reasons, we are asking for donations to this program to help women gain access to mentoring who otherwise would not be able to join. We are looking to reach more women, including women who are victims of domestic violence, to be able to reach their dreams of owning their own business. 100% of the money raised from this fundraiser will go directly to women who are in need of scholarships to enroll in the Women Entrepreneur Excellence Course, providing entrepreneur success strategies and women survivors domestic violence support to secure future success. With your help, whether it's a little or a lot we appreciate you and know we can reach this goal and have ongoing success.
