Help Wolfie Cat Heal and Thrive; Support His Veterinary Care

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Tracey, and I take care of many community cats in my neighborhood. Over the years, I have partnered with programs to try to help these cats through TNVR (trap, neuter/spay, vaccinate, release). This has helped to keep the cat population under control but has not helped with injuries, flea and worm treatments, and any ailments that require a visit to the veterinarian.

Some of these cats I have fed for years, and they have become very socialized. One such cat is Wolfie Cat, pictured above, lovingly named after the cat in Barbie’s 'Princess and the Pauper' animated movie. Wolfie came into our backyard during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. He was the first community cat I fed, and over the years, Wolfie has come and gone as he pleased. About 8 months ago, Wolfie decided to stay in our yard, and we set him up with his own shelter as we are unable to have him inside due to our grumpy older cat, who would not be very kind to him or any other cat for that matter.

Wolfie has unfortunately sustained a bad injury to his leg. My daughter, who is currently a veterinary student, believes this is an old wound that, for some reason, will not heal. Additionally, since the wound appears quite painful, for any veterinarian to properly examine or treat it, he would need to be sedated. She also mentioned that the leg may need to be amputated depending on the extent of the damage. I spoke to my contact at the local shelter, and she pretty much told me that if I called animal control, they may euthanize him rather than fix his leg due to their low funds for cases like this. I will not euthanize Wolfie if there is a chance he can receive treatment for his leg and live out the rest of his days.

My daughter has offered to care for him and take him to his veterinary appointments while she is at veterinary college, but we cannot afford the veterinary bills. I have no idea how much Wolfie's treatment may cost, but I do know that if it is a wound care situation, it will take multiple visits and, if he needs an amputation, I know that this will be costly. I have never set up a GoFundMe before, but he is such a loving and sweet boy that I feel compelled to try to find him the help he deserves. I am asking for any donations that can be put towards helping Wolfie Cat to ease his pain and make his life a little happier. Thank you for taking an interest in Wolfie's story.
