Help Wolfgang Recover

Donation protected
Meet Wolfgang, our 22 month, forever-hungry, warm-hearted companion and ESA [emotional support animal]. He is our furry bundle of joy, our furbaby. We are a wolfpack, a family.

Five days ago two dogs attacked Wolfgang while he and I were on our way back home from an early evening walk in the neighborhood. It was a horrifying, traumatic experience! I tried to protect Wolf by standing in front of him and yelling in a commanding tone for the dogs to stop and go away, but it didn't work so Wolf quickly positioned himself in front of my body to protect me. These dogs charged full speed across their owner's property, crossed over the road and attacked Wolfgang without hesitation. I tried my hardest to separate them but it was impossible - the large dog was most likely a pitbull too so he and Wolfgang kept locking jaws with one another, and the other dog kept attacking Wolf's neck, belly and legs. Wolf was badly wounded.

Wolfie suffered numerous wounds to his face, mouth, neck, upper chest, legs, and suffered two deep canine puncture wounds in his right, front leg which quickly swelled and became infected. His right ear was torn in two areas. Thank God and the Angels, Wolfgang does not have any broken bones or severed blood vessels! He received stitches on his right ear, the puncture wounds were flushed and treated, other wounds cleaned, and he is on antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory. If you'd like to see some more photos of his injuries, or want to read more about it on my site Akosmopolite, please click here.

The whole experience - being present during the attack and not being able to protect him; getting him home while he was wounded; nursing and monitoring him through the night until we could get him to a vet; the panic, anxiety, exhaustion and financial burden - was and has been a really traumatizing, horrific experience. I wouldn't wish this on any person. Those who have loving companions such as Wolfgang know just how precious and cherished they are, the beautiful gift of Love they bring, and that they are FAMILY...

The neighbors have refused to take responsibility for their dogs' aggressive behavior - they refused to pay for Wolf's medical bills and they also lied to the authorities about the incident. They were able to call the police first so they lied and said Wolfgang and I trespassed on their property, and they also told the authorities that my partner trespassed on their property when he went to speak with them about the attack! This is really upsetting and unjust.  By the time my partner had walked back home and called the police about the attack, it was already in the system through the dispatch that it was a "domestic dispute" instead of an "aggressive dog attack." Animal Control will not do anything at this point because the neighbors lied to the authorities.  Animal Control told us that they have given the Sheriff's Deputy "the courtesy" of taking this incident, but advised us to file a civil suit. The Kentucky Humane Society does not want to offer aid, or get involved, because we will be filing the law suit. We looked into applying with Red Rover but because we have not neutered Wolfgang we do not qualify for the aid [I found that odd].

We are reaching out for support to help us with Wolf's recovery.  We have never made a Go Fund Me campaign before, but we are willing to try. It was an unexpected sudden cost we could not afford, on top of the emotional trauma we are experiencing. We are also reaching out for support to help us pay in filing a civil suit against the neighbors, who have refused to settle this in a friendly manner. In the state of Kentucky, there are quite a few laws that the neighbors have broken in regards to their dogs and this attack, and they are legally liable for the damages that we have suffered. There are also laws pertaining to attacks on ESA's. We are also concerned for the community, because this is not the first time these two dogs have tried to attack Wolfgang, and we are sure that their dogs have tried to attack others. We do not want any harm to come to their dogs, what we want is for them to implement something to prevent their aggressive dogs from attacking Wolfgang or anyone else, and we want rightful compensation for the damages we have suffered.

With the donations we receive we will apply them towards:
-Wolfgang's medical bills
-Wolfgang's recovery [medications, ointments, and resources/training for the anxiety]
-Filing fee for civil law suit

In honesty, we are in need of financial help as soon as possible, especially to get the civil suit filed right away, and to take care of Wolfie who is our main concern. His wounds are beginning to heal but he is showing signs of anxiety and shock, and we want to take care of him in the best way possible so that he doesn't develop severe anxiety and/or aggressive behavior around other people and animals [because of the attack]. Research shows that dogs can and will become very anxious and aggressive after suffering an attack. Wolfie means everything to us, he is our pup, our companion, he is part of our family. We don't see him solely as a pet, an animal. He is a beautiful, gentle, loving soul who happens to be a dog, and we love him so much and appreciate his warmth, love, joy and companionship. He is also registered as an ESA, mainly for my partner, and so that is also something super important. He provides therapeutic support.

We are extremely grateful for any and all support! We want Wolfie to have a safe, loving, warm recovery back to full health and happiness, and we also want what is truthful, right and just. Please help support Wolfie and our stance for justice and peace. We so appreciate it! Peace be with you.
