NORTH YORK DOG OWNERS – URGENT INCIDENT ALERT

Date/Time: Sunday, August 10, 2025 – approx. 2:30 PM

Location: Beecroft Rd near Ellerslie Ave, North York

My corgi Wolf was attacked and mauled by two unleashed pitbulls while my husband and I were taking him out on a walk.

We noticed a black pitbull emerge from the bushes and immediately noticed he didn’t have a leash on. His owner trailed behind along with another brown pitbull. We noticed the owner, in a panic, holding onto the pitbulls’ back in an attempt to make them stay.

We had started pulling Wolf, who paused, at this point but after we turned away and walked several feet, one pitbull lunged at him. The second joined in the chase. In trying to escape, Wolf slipped out of his collar and ran across the road.

The pitbulls’ owner could not control them. He picked up Wolf and handed Wolf to me (I was bitten in the process) and then fled the scene, right after flagging another man to “hold” the brown pitbull — this stranger reported he does not know who the owner was HOWEVER as soon as the cops arrived, this man later ran to the road and entered into a vehicle and sped away with an unknown driver. My husband had the black pitbull at a chokehold and one of the officers contained the brown dog.

More police officers/paramedics have begun arriving at the scene as this unfolded, and the two pitbulls were taken into custody (they are now with Animal Control). Paramedics took me to ER and I received medical care for my bite injuries.

Wolf’s injuries:
• Multiple cuts across his back
• Deep chest wound
• Punctured lung

We are working with Toronto Police to find the owner and hold him accountable.

DESCRIPTION OF OWNER:
• Male, late 20s to early 30s
• Brown skin tone, Middle Eastern/Asian
• Medium-length straight/wavy black hair, mustache; average height, skinny build (POLICE TOOK OUR STATEMENTS)
• Lives near Beecroft Rd / Churchill Ave / Ellerslie Ave area

DESCRIPTION OF “STRANGER” WHO HELPED BRIEFLY BEFORE RUNNING AWAY IN A GETAWAY CAR:
- Male, late 20s to early 30s
- Light skinned, Middle Eastern/Asian
- Shoulder length, curly, brunette hair
- Average height but more bulky built in comparison to dogs owner

If you have any information, please contact me or help me report to Toronto Police (I can provide this case’s reference number).

I have set up this GoFundMe to help cover Wolf’s emergency vet bills. I will post regular updates on his condition.

Please, leash your pets and be cautious around unleashed dogs you do not know. This was preventable — and I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and supported us so far.

Updates:
-Wolf was immediately brought to Toronto North Animal Hospital receiving urgent care, but was referred to an emergency hospital (Toronto Animal Health Partners) for more complex intervention.

-7:15pm — Wolf is admitted to ICU at Toronto Animal Health Partners. Wolf is requiring supplemental oxygen as he sustained a deep laceration to his chest and has punctured a lung. CT scan (whole body) to be performed with increased likelihood of chest surgery.

-Aug 11:
- He continues to receive strong pain meds to ensure comfort
- He needed oxygen therapy yesterday but we were told he is breathing better now on room air
- They needed 2 chest tubes for his pneumothorax last night with good outcomes….. not a lot coming out now. This was eventually weaned down to only 1 chest tube by end of night.
- Wolf successfully completed CT scan— we are awaiting the results. This determines if chest surgery is indicated.
